The beverage industry is increasingly aware of the importance of connection with its consumers, so there are many tourist alternatives to enter its facilities, whether wine, beer or some distillate.

Tequila lovers, an iconic Mexican product, have the possibility to board trains to venture into a journey full of history, culture and good drinks.

Being one of the most famous spirits in the world, some houses producing this derivative of the agave plant have options to discover its origins and tradition.

Tequila José Cuervo, one of the oldest distilleries in Latin America, and Tequila Herradura offer a ride to dive deep into liters of the distillate.

José Cuervo Express and Herradura Express are proposals of each firm to take travelers to know the state of Jalisco, from where tequila originates.

Both initiatives were developed by the company Ferrocarril Mexicano, S.A (Ferromex) and have as their starting point the city of Guadalajara.

Tourists can take a train tour, while enjoying the products of each brand and contemplating the immense fields of blue agave (Agave Tequilana Weber), the only variety of the plant with which tequila can be made.

José Cuervo Express

Opened in 2014, its main attraction is that it has as its final destination the homonymous town Tequila, described as “a magical place where time passes slower”.

Its premise is “to offer authentic experiences with the atmosphere and spirit of Mexico.”

It is a ride that is presented as a time travel, full of festivity and essence of the American nation, in which passengers can enjoy a luxurious old-style train.

In addition, they have the opportunity to appreciate the bluish agave landscape before reaching the town to explore it and finally get to know La Rojeña, home of José Cuervo since 1812.

The experience is divided into three categories, according to the price. Express, with light snacks such as fruit and tequila-based cocktails; Premium Plus, with a wider atmosphere, regional Mexican dishes and cocktails; and Diamond, in an exclusive car with a tasting of tequila, snacks, cocktails and a glamorous atmosphere.

Herradura Express

A more recent project that has also achieved success among distillate enthusiasts.

Their trains move to the town of Amatitán, where the production company has been located for over 100 years. In essence, it is very similar to the previous one, overlooking the endless agave fields and a tour of the area and the place where the drink is produced by hand.

“Here, you will discover firsthand how our tequila was created in 1870 within an authentic hacienda.

You will also know our state-of-the-art distillery, located in front of the majestic landscape of the Tequila Volcano, ”they cite on the web portal.

It also has three different packages for tourists: Premium, ideal for the family, with snacks and drinks during the trip, and live food and music in the distillery; Club, with live shows on the train, mixology and food; and First Class, with a more comfortable and striking wagon, selected dishes and drinks and a special menu at the end of the day.
